Dierberg Vineyard   Dierberg Vineyard: This 162 acre vineyard (126 farmed to pinot noir) located in the Santa Maria Valley AVA is a textbook study of suiting clones and rootstock to the soil and terroir. It was planted in 1997 on mostly sandy loam and gravel loam to such combinations as clone 777 on 101-14 rootstock or 115 on Schwartzman or 2A on 5C and farmed for very low yields with intense concentration of flavors. It is 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean at about 500’ elevation.
