La Colline Vineyard

La Colline: Since 1997 we have gotten superb fruit from Laetitia Vineyards which sits at the foot of a dormant volcano (PicachoPeake) just four miles from the Pacific Ocean near the town of Arroyo Grande This north sloping vineyard was planted to the Martini clone in 1983 for the purpose of making sparkling wines. Own rooted too, I should add. The soil in this vineyard is a fascinating mix of limestone, clay, whalebone and, yes, a lot of black rocks that appear to have been ejected from deep down in the earth. Elevation is about 300 to 500 feet. The vines are trained for unilateral cordon with vertical shoot positioning and are spur pruned.
